Is There Such a Thing as a 100% Recession Proof Job?
Unfortunately, there is no job that is 100% recession-proof. However, there are some careers that are far less likely to be affected by an economic downturn than others. If career stability is important to you, consider the following options.
Medical Industry
Doctors, nurses, physical therapists and other medical health professionals will always be needed no matter how bad a recession gets. What is more, you don't need a degree to find a job as a medical professional. Pharmacy technicians, certified nursing assistants and even paramedics are always in high demand and you can earn certification for these jobs without going into student debt.
Internet Professionals
The internet is here to stay no matter what happens to the economy. In fact, an economic downturn often boosts online sales as people shop online to conserve gas. SEO experts, programmers, network administrators and social media marketers can earn good money in this field even during an economic downturn. What is more, you often don't need a college or university degree to get started in any one of these jobs.
Law Enforcement
Police do get laid off during a recession; however, they are far less likely to get the pink slip than people in most other professions. What is more, there are plenty of job options in this field to pick from. These include working as a police detective, border patrol agent, FBI agent, Federal marshal, game warden, parole officer, bailiff or corrections officer. You'll need to have a degree to apply for some of these jobs, especially if you want to specialize in a particular field and/or hope to work on the Federal level. However, there are a number of law enforcement jobs you can apply for even if you just have a high school diploma.
The prospect of an economic downturn can be scary; however, you don't have to be negatively affected by the economy if you pick a secure career option. The industries listed above not only offer stability but also good pay and plenty of career paths to pick from.
